This is a Xoom vs iPad head to head comparison. With Motorola's Xoom scheduled to launch at any time, I thought it would be interesting to do a head to head comparions between it and the Apple iPad.

Motorola Xoom is among the latest tablet computing hand held devices in the market today being powered with a dual core processor and runs on the Android 3.0 operating system. Anybody trying to compare the features and flexibility offered between the Apple I Pad and the Motorola Xoom, has to critically examine the various technologies that come embedded with these electronic devices.

Display Screen

Motorola Xoom comes with a 10.1 inch screen and can provide a display resolution of 1280 X 800, it also has a wide screen ratio of 16:9 HD. On the other hand Apple I Pad comes with a 9.7 inch and a display resolution of 1024 X 768, with a widescreen ratio of 1:33.

Processing Power

Motorola Xoom comes powered with Nvidia's Tegra 2.1 GHz dual core processor and 1 GB RAM, while Apple I Pad comes embedded with Cortex A8 which is also a single core. However, Apple Computers expects to release advanced version of its I Pad tablet device in future to compete directly with Motorola Xoom.

Systems Software

Motorola Xoom runs with Google's Android 3.0 Honey comb which is also still being improved by developers and it is directly competing with Apples IOS 4.2 release. Honey comb is also quick than IOS. However, Apples IOS is very mature & stable and it is easier to find a number of games and applications that are compatible with the iPad and cannot be used in Xoom due to system software compatibility issues. Xoom also allows downloads that have not been developed by Google, but on the other hand Apple Corporation requires that applications meant to run on their system must be distributed by the company itself which limits on users options.

Connectivity and Flexibility

Xoom has enhanced flexibility and it is more compatible with most electronic devices. It also comes with Micro USB and Bluetooth connectivity for sharing data between devices. Its launch of a 4 G compatible version is also underway. I-Pad has does not come with USB connectivity which has not gone well with Apple fans.

Apple Loyalists find the comparison to be very alarming after comparing the various technologies between the two devices and so far Motorola Xoom is the most advanced tablet device on the market and best tablet devices for people who prefer media entertainment. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see who won this Xoom vs iPad showdown!

Maximizing Your Productivity With Your Android Phone

When productivity matters, the system or process you have in place needs to keep pace with your demands. For the mobile professional, carrying a laptop around doesn't always work and is seldom the most convenient way to maximize your productivity. As for paper based planners and to do lists, their bulk and limited capabilities are quick to slow down even the best laid plans.

Fortunately, the evolution of smart phones have reached the tipping point. Much more than a means of mobile communication, smart phones are a powerful and effective means to maximizing your productivity. I have explored and experimented with several smart phones and have landed squarely on the Android OS. Not only to handle my communication needs, but to also help design and implement my organizational and productivity system.

Being a small business owner of a part-time business, a Sales Manager for a Fortune 250 international corporation, an official in my home town, a husband and father or two, my time needs to be maximized, productive and organized. With the help of a few apps on my Android based phone, I can accomplish all the tasks I need to for my business life, and still have plenty of quality time for my personal life.

Here's how I do it.

Google Apps

The Android OS integrates seamlessly with many of the free Google apps. Most importantly for productivity, are Google Calendar, GMail, Docs, Tasks and Voice. Each of these apps are free and only require setting up a Google account.

Google calendar integrates and automatically updates the calendar on my Android phone wherever I am. With the added capability to share my calendar, my business partner can view, edit and add events to my calendar. These changes are synced directly to my phone. As I am seldom in my office, having live updates via the Google Sync app on my phone, allows me the confidence that I always know what my ever changing day looks like.

The integrated email in box on Android phones is capable of managing several of my business and personal emails, including my GMail account. I have my Gmail in box separate from my other accounts as I use this account solely for personal use. Keeping personal and business separate is wonderful productivity enhancement made easy with the Android OS.

Google Docs allows me to store files for future review as well as sharing files for collaboration. Being responsive to my clients is critical in my field and having the ability to receive collaborative files sent directly to my phone has afforded me the ability to get back to clients quickly and accurately.

Google Voice is by far my favorite Google App. The Google Voice app that is a free download from the Android market works flawlessly with my Voice account. Not only can I receive transcripts of my voice mail emailed directly to my phone, but I can also set up multiple outgoing messages. I have messages specifically for clients, my business partner, family and friends as well as unknown callers. The level of personalization is incredible and, if used creatively, can make an important client feel as if they are the most important person in the world. Being able to manage and edit all my Google Voice features from my phone is a powerful productivity enhancement that I now depend on for my business.

For those who are tentative to use all the free Google apps, Astrid is a simple, yet effective app that is a free download. With its capability to sync with your account at "Remember The Milk.com" the Astrid app can be automatically backed up and synced directly to and from your Android phone. Astrid provides a different level of control over Google Tasks and its simple and clean interface makes managing projects or To Do lists enjoyable.

As I have used or owned many different smart phones, I feel confident when I say that the Android OS and the myriad of Android apps provide the most powerful and effective productivity enhancing combination available. Though there are many other apps for the android OS and other smart phones, this combination has worked wonders for me and my business. Moreover, each app I listed here are 100% free of charge!

With all the news about new tablets running Android 3.0 Honeycomb, tablets running Windows got lost in the shadows. But out of all the Windows tablets introduced at CES, the most intriguing, and unique was the Samsung Sliding PC 7. The Samsung Sliding PC 7 will have a 10 inch capacitive multi-touch touchscreen with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, with a built in keyboard, which slides out from under the screen and transforms the tablet into a "LapTab." Not only is the design well thought out, but the hardware inside is not too shabby either. The Samsung Sliding PC 7 is equipped with a brand new Intel Oak Trail CPU clocked at 1.6 GHz, 2 GB of memory, and 128 GB of flash storage.

Other Samsung Galaxy reviews have really failed at pointing out the wireless capabilities that are included with the tablet. If you haven't ever used wireless n you're missing out as its lightning fast and almost feels like you are connected via ethernet. also included on the device is the option for up to 32g micro sd card. Also not included in other Samsung Galaxy reviews is any emphasis on flash capability which the iPad lacks. Flash is everywhere all over the internet and in games pictures and movies. You can integrate your outlook email easily and move almost seamlessly through applications with speed and precision.

My Samsung Galaxy reviews should give you at least some idea as to what features are key to the product and also should present the tablet as a clear alternative to the iPad. I don't care much for apple products because they don't play well with others.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab has the Google Android 2.2 operating system which has tons of free apps and stuff to download with out messing with iTunes or having to pull out your credit card every time you want to try something new. Overall I would say that its a good product that has the potential for many different kinds of users. Its one of the smaller tablets and is reasonably priced for everything you get.
Samsung makes great products and has continued to stay at the top of their game while providing great solutions to today's technology needs.
